Helping spinners to better understand how to setup their spinning wheels and troubleshoot a range of problems they may come across, we`re delighted to share with you the launch of our latest SOS course addition, Tension Systems taught by Kim McKenna @claddaghfibrearts!

When we experience issues such as poor take-up, yarn yanked from our hands, or over-twisted yarn, we often assume our spinning is the root of the problem. But that`s not always the case. Sometimes the problem stems from a wheel which is not properly set up. At this course, Kim talks about scotch tension, Irish tension, double drive system, and the differences between these three, all helping to make your spinning experience more enjoyable.

Just when I thought I couldn’t love this yarn any more than I already did, I started knitting with it ❤️❤️❤️❤️

This is my Traveler Cowl in progress for the SKAL hosted by dreareneeknits and shoplamercerie. Yarn is handspun by me with Targhee wool dyed by sweetgeorgiayarns. The colorway is named Trail Runner.

We`re in the first week of our Multicraftual Make-Along and it has been wonderful to see everyone`s ideas and project planning they`ve been sharing. Running from April 1st until July 31st, we`re focusing on fractal spinning — working with hand-dyed fibres, creating fabulous handspun yarns we can then enjoy knitting, crocheting, and weaving with.

If you`re new to spinning fractals, there are a number of courses and articles we suggest checking out (all which have been linked by Vikki in the SOS Forums — follow our link in bio to see the post):
• Spin a Hand-Dyed Braid Five Ways with Kim McKenna @claddaghfibrearts
• Spinning Intentional Colour with Felicia Lo @felicialowong
• Spinning Up a Level with Katrina Stewart @craftyjaks
• Spin to Knit Socks with Rachel Smith @woolnspinning

The Make-Along chat is taking place at the linked forum thread and also at the SweetGeorgia Discord space in the #multicraftual-maker channel. It`s a make-along open to all members of the SOS and SweetGeorgia communities. We hope to see you there!

Fibre colourway shown: SweetGeorgia Secret Stash Fibre Club for March, Winter`s End, dyed on the Polwarth+Silk base. There are limited braids still available for purchase at the SweetGeorgia shop.

I finished my spin for the Traveler Cowl and the KAL hosted by dreareneeknits and shoplamercerie! I wish I had the photography skills to accurately capture how incredibly squishy it is. I am so happy with how this turned out. It was my first time spinning Targhee and it’s my new favorite ❤️ I ended up with about 850 yards using 200g of fiber from sweetgeorgiayarns. The colorway is named Trail Runner.
