Growing a LinkedIn Page

A short while back I posted that Ministry of Testing had 15k LinkedIn followers. After thinking about it I didn't really realise how or when it grew to that number.

I had a quick look at graphs and it all became obvious to me. The growth directly correlated with the regular posts we started posting to our page. Most of these followers happened within the past 6 months. That surprised me!

I didn't set out with a clear strategy for LinkedIn. Mostly I was experimenting and trying things out. I saw people responding to what we were posting and that encouraged me to keep posting. We already had a group there that we had used a lot in the past. Mostly, to save time, we just post what we post to Twitter, and it works, for us.

  • We post open ended questions, these are great for engagement and usually end up driving 30-100 responses. Often we will post links into the comments a few days after the original post.
  • Link to our discussions, resources and events.
  • We tag people in where relevant, especially for our events.

There are many other tactics that can be used within LinkedIn, some of them come across as annoying and spammy, we don't want to be like that. We feel comfortable with how we approach the above and people seem to appreciate it too.
